Bylaws

Article I

The Executive Committee

  1. Meeting. The Executive Committee shall hold its business meetings at the time and place designated by the president through notice from the secretary.
  2. Vacancy. All vacancies in the Executive Committee other than the office of the president, caused by death, resignation, or any other cause shall be appointed for the unexpired term by the president-elect of the Association. The president-elect will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term of the president.
  3. Bond/Financial Reviews. The treasurer shall be bonded at the expense of the Association. All financial reports of the Association shall be audited annually by an approved Financial Review Committee, appointed by the President. The treasurer’s report shall be submitted to the Association at the first annual meeting following the audit.

Article II

Nomination of Officers

  1. Nomination Committee. The Nominating Committee shall be appointed by the president to receive suggestions from the general membership. All nominees for offices shall be representatives from universities and colleges which are regular members as stated in Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution. Such nominations shall be voted on by the membership at the annual meeting.

Article III

Committees

  1. Standing Committees
    1. Nomination Committee. The Nominating Committee shall perform the functions as outlined in Article II of these Bylaws.
    2. Financial Review Committee. The Financial Review Committee shall be appointed by the president to review such reports as necessary as stated in Article I, Section 3 of the Bylaws and to review financial reports prior to transfer of books to the new treasurer.
    3. Constitution/Bylaws Committee. The Constitution/Bylaws Committee shall be the Executive Committee. The purpose of this committee shall be to receive proposed amendments from the secretary, and to make recommendation regarding such proposed amendments to the membership in accordance with Article V, Section 1 of the Constitution and Article VII of the Bylaws.
  2. Appointments. The president shall appoint all standing committees during his/her term of office. The president may also appoint other committees as deemed appropriate.

Article IV

Procedure

  1. Quorum. A majority of voting members present shall constitute a quorum.
  2. Rules. Robert’s Rules of Order shall be used as a guide in conducting meetings.
  3. Voting. Each regular member institution of the Association shall be allowed one (1) vote. This vote shall be cast by the chief business official of the member institution, or the institution’s duly authorized representative.

Article V

Dues

Membership dues in the Association shall be paid annually. Membership dues shall be five hundred dollars ($500.00) annually, unless waived by the Executive Committee.

Article VI

Fiscal Year

The fiscal year of the Alabama Association of College and University Business Officers shall be from October 1 through September 30.

Article VII

Amendments

All amendments must be made in accordance with the policy as outlined in Article V, Section 1 of the Constitution.
